How Much Do You Know About Fire Doors?

A fire door is a door that can meet the requirements of fire stability, integrity, and thermal insulation within a certain period of time. It is a fire partition with certain fire resistance settings, such as fire partition between fire zones, evacuation staircases, vertical shafts, etc. It plays a vital role in fire fighting and provides people with a chance to escape in case of fire.The fire door not only serves as an ordinary door but also has the function of preventing the spread of fire and smoke. It can stop the spread of fire for a certain period to ensure people's evacuation.

Composition of fire doors

Fire doors are usually installed in the following places

  • Enclosed evacuation staircases leading to corridors and doors leading to front rooms and corridors;

  • Inspection doors for vertical pipelines such as cable ducts, shafts, smoke exhaust ducts, and garbage chutes;

  • Doors on firewalls and fire partitions for controlling the construction area of fire zones. When it is difficult to set firewalls or fire doors in buildings, fire shutter doors should be used instead, and water curtain protection must be provided simultaneously;

  • Fire-resistant and smoke-resistant partition doors for regular or specially designed requirements.

Fire resistance time for fire doors

The fire resistance time of the fire door is mainly determined by the fireproof board used. In this regard, the fireproof board used in class A fire doors generally has better performance than that used in class B fire doors, thus making the overall performance of class A fire doors stronger than that of class B fire doors. Moreover, class A fire doors provided by fire rated door supplier are particularly suitable for occasions that require high surface quality and excellent vibration resistance, such as polishing before electroplating, manual tool mirror polishing, surface vibration polishing, and mirror polishing of heating tubes. Materials with door frame function in class A fire doors can be flexibly customized according to customers' needs for convenient and efficient design of door opening dimensions.

Technical requirements for fire doors

Wooden fire doors are composed of fire-resistant wood or fire-resistant wooden products for door frames, door leaf frames, door leaf panels, fire-resistant and non-toxic insulating materials, and fire-resistant hardware fittings to form doors with certain fire resistance performance.

The lap size between the door leaf and the door frame should not be less than 12mm. The clearance between the active side of the hinge on one side of the door leaf and the door frame should not be greater than the size tolerance specified on the design drawing. The clearance between the active side of the lock on one side of the door leaf and the door frame should not be greater than the size tolerance specified on the design drawing. The clearance between the upper frame and the door leaf should not be greater than 3mm. The gap between the door leaves of double-leaf or multi-leaf doors should not be greater than 3mm. The clearance between the door leaf and the lower frame or ground should not be greater than 9mm. The clearance between the contact surfaces of the door leaf and the door frame, the hinge-side, the lock-side and the upper frame should not be greater than 3mm.

A wooden fire door is a door made from wood or wooden products, with a fire resistance rating that meets the national standards. Even small deviations between wooden fire doors cannot be allowed, as they may cause significant deviations from the national standards by neglecting small details.
